Project Rising Phoenix Announces First Board and Executive Director

PHOENIX - Sept. 25, 2013 - PRLog -- Project Rising Phoenix, a Phoenix-based not-for-profit urban infill accelerator, has announced its initial board of directors and executive director. Named to the board are Matthew Meaker, Sacks Tierney P.A. (Chair); Phil Allsopp, Transpolis Global (Vice Chair); Laine Seaton, non-profit executive consultant (Secretary); Jim McPherson, McPherson & Associates (Treasurer); and at-large directors Talonya Adams, Axis Law PLLC; John Glenn, CCBG Architects, Inc.; and Shannon Scutari, Scutari & Company.

The board has selected Leslie Lindo, CSBA, LEED AP, as the organization’s executive director. Lindo has been involved in community development since moving to Phoenix in 2004. She has championed sustainable design and development practices through the professional training company she co-founded in 2008. Lindo has served in leadership roles for the national Sustainable Building Advisor Institute, Green Chamber: Greater Phoenix, US Green Building Council (Arizona Chapter), and American Institute of Architects (Phoenix Metro Chapter).

“Leslie is the ideal person to lead Project Rising Phoenix in its start-up phase,” said Meaker. “Through her extensive work experience and training, Leslie will help us achieve our goal of creating a pipeline of viable redevelopment projects sourced from and for the benefit of Phoenix.”

According to Lindo, “Everything we do is about advancing vibrant and healthy communities. Our board of directors and external partners are already lining up potential leads for filling-in vacant spaces and repurposing empty buildings with places for residents to live, work, play, create, and study.”
