In an article on the Vegas Experts website entitled, “Knowledge of Numbers Important When Making NFL Picks,” Burns says that during the first three weeks of the 2013 NFL season, the most frequent combined score has been 58, which has already happened four times.
Burns acknowledges the small sample size, but compares that number to the 41 and 44 that have been the most consistent over the past 10-15 years. He also comments that the 76 points scored in the September 5th opener between the Denver Broncos and Baltimore Ravens may have set a tone for the surge thus far.
Noting that as a season progresses, certain numbers come up with greater frequency, Burns stresses the need to keep a close watch on the totals of each game during the course of the year in order to allow patterns and trends to develop.
Burns also includes a list of the totals for each of the 48 games played thus far during the NFL regular season.
