LCR-Reader, Newest Addition to the Smart Tweezers Family of Handheld LCR-meter from Siborg system

The new LCR-Reader offers customers the same functionality and ease-of-use of previous models, but features a lower weight and lower price.

WATERLOO, Ontario - Sept. 25, 2013 - PRLog -- Siborg Systems Inc. has released their newest addition to the Smart Tweezers handheld LCR-meter family, the LCR-Reader. The new device boasts a smaller size, a lighter weight of 1 oz., half that of previous models, and a new lower price point.

Smart Tweezers have gained the reputation as an indispensable tool for the past 10 years on the market. The combination of a set of tweezers and a powerful, highly accurate LCR-meter offer users an easier way to testing and troubleshooting electronics featuring Surface Mount Technology. The unit is designed to be held and operated with one hand, while still meeting the same accuracy as conventional bench type testers.

When the first few hundred new devices were tested, they showed some discrepancies for the 1% basic accuracy between units. Siborg corrected this issue by calibrating each device using the Smart Tweezers Calibration Fixture. Now, the basic accuracy of 1% is achieved on each device.

“We are very happy with the new device. Customer satisfaction is our main priority. Therefore we took additional measures to ensure high measurement accuracy of the LCR-Reader before we start mass production of this model. Basic accuracy of 1% was our target and we eventually have been able to achieve it.” says the Director of Research and Development at Siborg, Michael Obrecht.

The LCR-Reader works the same as previous Smart Tweezer models, by just touching the tweezers to a component, the LCR-Reader evaluates the component and relays the results nearly instantaneously to the display. A single button navigation allows the user to quickly switch through measurement modes, from Automatic to Capacitance, Resistance, Inductance and ESR modes. Each measurement is done at a test signal amplitude of 0.5 Vrms and the best test frequency is automatically selected. The basic accuracy of each device is 1%, and is powered by Li-Ion battery and is rechargeable via micro-USB.

To keep costs low, some features were not implemented on the new LCR-Reader that have been found on previous models, including; open circuit detection, semi-automatic offset subtraction, component sorting and continuity and diode testing.

The new LCR-Reader offers users a new design that maximizes the simplicity of using a handheld LCR-meter while still maintaining a high basic accuracy at a more affordable price.
