Follow on Google News | 1st Annual Jodi Shapiro Fundraiser to Benefit Camp Pa-Qua-TuckBy: Camp Pa-Qua-Tuck The fundraiser is named in memory of Jodi Shapiro, a Special Education Administrator for Manhasset Schools. On July 13, 2013, Ms. Shapiro passed away at the age of 39 after a brief and sudden battle with cancer. Ms. Shapiro was named Assistant Director of Committees on Preschool Special Education and Elementary Special Education in June 2012. She implemented special education programs and services for children in preschool through sixth grade at Shelter Rock, Munsey Park, Our Lady of Grace, and St. Mary’s elementary schools in Manhasset. The event will feature auctions, a 50/50 raffle, a hot wing eating contest, and live music. Tickets are $35 per person and $10 for children. The ticket price includes food. A cash bar will also be available. Donations and raffle items are currently being accepted. Located on the shores of Kaler's Pond on eastern Long Island, Camp Pa-Qua-Tuck is funded entirely by donations and is a special place where children with physical and developmental disabilities can experience first hand the pleasures that an active life has to offer. Children participate in a wide range of activities specially designed for youngsters who are in wheelchairs as well as those who are ambulatory. These activities include swimming, boating, arts and crafts, petting zoo, talent shows, cook-outs, games and a Carnival Day.
