Follow on Google News | Tourism Radio New Zealand’s White Label apps get an Android faceliftTourism Radio New Zealand this week released what it calls “a vital update” to the Android version of its entire White Label audio travel guide range.
By: Tourism Radio NZ Tourism Radio NZ produces audio travel guides that cover every region of the country across the North and South Islands. Initially the company focused on an in-car travel guide device, which was distributed to travellers via car and motor home rental agency partners, including Maui, Britz and Motorhome Republic. More recently however, Tourism Radio shifted its focus to iPhone and Android travel apps, offering its partners a digital mobile download for their clients. This latest update, according to Tourism Radio NZ Managing Director Hayden Braddock, brings the Android version up to speed with global standards, “Android users make up a large portion of our app user base and this update brings with it a number of behind-the-scenes features that enhance the final user experience. Development continues across our range, of course, but we’re particularly proud of the end result of this latest iteration.” As of this week, the Android versions of more than a dozen Tourism Radio NZ White Label travel guides feature the all-new incremental download system. Braddock says the main advantage of this is that it doesn’t interrupt the app flow, “Incremental downloads allow the user to update content within the app without having to revisit the app store. We’re constantly refining, updating and adding content, and this update gives us another way to provide users with accurate travel information as they move around.” Incremental downloading also means users will be able to access travel guide content before its finished downloading, and then be able to go completely offline when the download is complete. Braddock says this is Tourism Radio’s way of helping travellers avoid those nasty data bill surprises at the end of their holidays. The update also introduces Facebook sharing capabilities to the apps, allowing users to share picture postcards, and content from within the app about specific points of interest, with their friends and family back home.
