Kleinfelder’s Struzziery Receives BSCES Citizen Engineer Award

Sept. 24, 2013 - PRLog -- BOSTON, Massachusetts – Kleinfelder announced today that John Struzziery, a distinguished civil and environmental engineer with over 37 years of experience, received the Citizen Engineer Award (http://www.bsces.org/index.cfm/pid/10382) from the Boston Society of Civil Engineers Section (BSCES (http://www.bsces.org/)) and the American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC) (http://www.acec.org/).

The award is given to civil engineers in recognition of their contributions to the community through outstanding public involvement in local and national legislation, education, nonprofit volunteer organizations, and community activities.

Struzziery was recognized for his 32-year tenure as the chair of the Town of Hull Permanent Sewer Commission (http://www.town.hull.ma.us/Public_Documents/HullMA_Sewer/homepage). Under his leadership, the commission sets policy for the wastewater treatment and collection system, establishes sewer user rates,  and works with Town officials and contract operators to develop emergency response plans, and address odor complaints. In addition, Struzziery uses his engineering expertise to provide the Town with additional technical assistance and direction on the wastewater collection and treatment system.

A resident of Hull, Massachusetts, Struzziery graduated from Northeastern University with a Bachelor of Science and Masters of Science in Civil/Environmental Engineering.  Since 1998, Struzziery has been the technical services and program manager for the $300M City of Cambridge Sewer Separation and Stormwater Management Program, responsible for overall program coordination and client contact. He also serves on the Advisory Committee of ASCE Pipelines Division, and is a nationally recognized expert in the field of trenchless technologies.

Struzziery received the award during the 165th BSCES Annual Award Dinner held on September 23, 2013 at the EMC Club in Boston’s Fenway Park.
