Follow on Google News | Knoxville Marine Franchisee Featured On Local Radio BroadcastFormer Marine Veteran shares his story of entrepreneurship and partnership with Domino's Pizza founder in new Knoxville venture with The Housing Hour with Kevin Rhea.
The interview was heard in five states throughout the Southeast. Host Kevin Rhea and Co-host Mark Griffith discussed the unlikely partnership of an unknown, local veteran with a businessman as well-known and influential as Monaghan. "It is truly a blessing to be able to be part of this new brand," said Wynkoop, who was most recently attached to 2nd Marine Regiment out of Camp Lejeune, N.C., "Because we are both Marines, Tom and I have a special bond - a bond that comes from that shared experience. Even though he served in the 50s and I served more recently, we're both Marines." The franchise's military theme is more than just for looks, a chief aim of the brand is to empower veterans to serve as its initial franchisees and hire and promote veterans from within. "Unemployment among military veterans is higher than the rest of the population in their age group," explained Wynkoop. "We're going to do something about that. We're going to make an effort to recruit and train veterans and then the ones who rise to the top may have the opportunity to become store owners themselves." The Knoxville location is slated to open this week. It is located at 1927 Cumberland Avenue on the University's famed "Strip."
