Jacksonville College Students Should Panic Now!

Mrs. Moore, www.privateacademictutor.net , is accepting new tutees now to help salvage students’ fall semester before it is too late.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Sept. 23, 2013 - PRLog -- One Chronicle of Higher Education Survey found that, “About two-thirds of freshmen said they were either somewhat or very worried about their ability to finance their college educations” http://chronicle.com/article/Cost-of-College-Is-a-Big-Worry/63671/ . But what freshmen fail to spend enough time worrying about early in the semester is their grades. Students, especially freshmen, usually wait until near the end of the first semester to grovel to their professors about how their parents “are going to kill [them]” or student financial aid will be lost because of poor grades. Melissa Miller’s experience with these students is chronicled in her article for Adjunctnation entitled, End of Term: So Now You’re Interested in Passing This Class? http://www.adjunctnation.com/2010/12/14/end-of-term-so-now-youre-interested-in-passing-this-class/ . At that point, it is too late. Because professors value fairness in dealing with all their students and universities set many of the grading policies, faculty cannot offer last minute extra credit to students with the best sob story, nor are they willing to change a grade.

The solution is twofold. First, panic now…today…this very moment. Second, find a tutor. Most students do not realize that they have already paid for tutoring with the cost of their tuition and fees for college, and they should take advantage of this ‘free’ service at this point in the semester when there is still time to earn higher grades.  To get more information about their college’s tutoring program, students should go to their school’s website and type “tutor” into the search box. Their campus library can also get students in touch with free tutoring resources.

Students who find that private academic tutoring suits their need for more intensive or flexible tutoring may email Mrs. Moore at mmoore@privateacademictutor.net  since she currently has space a few new tutees. Having taught and tutored at The College of Southern Maryland, Marybeth Moore moved from Hollywood, Maryland to Jacksonville, Florida this summer. Her areas of expertise include essay writing, developmental English, study skills, grammar, research, literature, and rhetoric. At this time, Mrs. Moore is also offering a free initial consultation. See www.privateacademictutor.net  for more information.
