MESA, Ariz. - Sept. 23, 2013 - PRLog -- Perhaps you’ve just moved into a small apartment with your significant other.  There is always an issue with space present during these move-ins.  Unifying two individuals “things” can put you and your partner in quite the predicament.  One particular problem that arises is how to share closet space.   There are a few tips that can relieve or prevent any tension regarding this shared space.  And although this article opened with a particular scenario, there are obviously multiple reasons for needing to share a closet with someone.

The first step is to discuss your needs and their needs.  An important thing to keep in mind here is that women, most of the time, require more space than men.  While men, on the other hand, require quick, in-and-out access to their items.  These are just two of many things to discuss and consider.  In the end, make sure that both of you compromise, and have in mind how the closet will be delegated.

Secondly, you must clean and consolidate your own clothes, shoes, belts etc.  Once this is completed, the next step is to visualize the closet in his and hers partitions.  Imagine lines and space in the closet being divided up between the two of you.  During this step, you might also consider purchasing and adding space saving tools such as shoe-holders, baskets, bins, etc.  These can be labeled something simple like “John’s shoes” to make sure there is no accidental mixing.

Lastly, implement your plan of attack, and make sure that it’s going to work for the both of you.  Remember to keep it tidy and clean, so all your hard work doesn’t go straight out the window.  Follow these simple tips and you, and your partner, will be free of any closet sharing woes.  Good luck!
