GAI Consultants Names Leader of Transportation Construction Monitoring Group

 
PITTSBURGH - Sept. 23, 2013 - PRLog -- Pittsburgh, PA – GAI Consultants, Inc. (GAI) welcomes Director of Engineering Francis J. Diegelman, P.E., to its Pittsburgh, Pa. office to lead the firm’s Transportation Construction Monitoring Group. Backed by over 25 years of industry experience, Mr. Diegelman specializes in construction management and construction engineering and inspection for highway and bridge transportation projects.

Drawing on his extensive knowledge and expertise, Francis serves as Project Manager for the $17 million Greensburg Pike Bridge project. Situated in Turtle Creek, Pa., the new bridge will include a 663 foot long, 4-span plate girder bridge supported by caissons of up to 114” in diameter. In addition to bridge construction, the project also includes two large design/build retaining walls, and demolition of the existing Greensburg Pike Bridge.

Francis has managed teams of inspectors and technicians as Construction Manager on significant projects including the Northfield Cargo Facility at the Pittsburgh International Airport; Rehabilitation and Widening of the Homestead Grays (formerly High Level) Bridge in Allegheny County, Pa.; and rehabilitation of the Pennsylvania Turnpike, Milepost 85 to 94. Additionally, Francis served as Independent Construction Quality Manager (ICQM) for the construction of the $300 million Cleveland Innerbelt Design/Build Bridge project.

Francis holds a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from The Pennsylvania State University, and is a registered professional engineer in Pennsylvania and Ohio.
