Follow on Google News | Four Twickenham nurseries receive a taste of the good life!An £80k investment in a state-of-the-art kitchen facility has seen mealtimes quickly become the favourite times of the day for children at four local nurseries!
By: asqith day nurseries Day nurseries Kew, Richmond, St Mary’s and Trafalgar, which are all part of the nationwide nursery chain, Asquith, are noticing the difference in variety on the menu since the new kitchen’s launch, and the benefits of food production being brought in house seem to be endless. Food is delivered hot and on time to each nursery, with all dietary requirements catered for; the best of seasonal produce is incorporated into the dishes and all ingredients are fully traceable. A delighted parent said: "My daughter has always been a very picky eater, both at nursery and at home, but this has changed so much since the nursery has had lunch and tea delivered from the Asquith kitchen." Essential for education and development is high quality food. Children need to feed their bodies in order to properly feed their minds, and the food served at the nurseries is so important in preparing children for active learning and the exciting milestones that they achieve each day. Eating well is an education in itself, too. Children grow in confidence as they taste new flavours and textures and learn more about healthy eating and where food comes from. Trafalgar Nursery Manager Emma Miller commented on the quality of the food delivered by the new kitchen: "Having the food delivered to the nursery has been an absolute pleasure for all the children, parents and staff. We are one of four nurseries that share sites with local schools so we do not have our own kitchens and the quality of outside caterers is not always what we need it to be for the under fives. When we had the very first tea delivery, I was so speechless and very nearly cried at not only the quantity but the pure quality of what we were about to give to the children." The menus, which change seasonally, operate on a four week rotation, giving children the best opportunity to experience food and flavours from all over the world.
