Creeyan Laboratories signs product development collaboration with OxfordMalaysian functional food and nutraceutical firm Creeyan Laboratories today announced the signing of its first development agreement with Oxford University spinout Sibelius Natural Products.

We have recruited a number of talented young Malaysians and we look forward to them working together with Oxford to collaborate on studies focusing on disease indications such as obesity, cholesterol and diabetes control, all of which unfortunately have special relevance to Malaysia and South East Asia.” Ms. Salehudin went on to say that “The world of nutritional supplementation and functional foods is evolving rapidly with consumers demanding more and better science behind the products they consume” “The advent of the internet has changed everything as consumers are increasingly better educated with respect to their disease concerns and lifestyle needs.” The global functional foods market is one of the leading growth areas in world of healthcare, which, currently, estimated to be worth $150 billion, is forecast to reach $180 billion by 2017. The boom is on in Asia, too, the total Asian functional food and beverage market is expected to reach $48 billion by next year. Indeed, the Asia Pacific market, with its culture of non-Western healing remedies, is second only to the United States in global sales of all functional foods.
