“It’s a time to reflect on the importance of economic democracy and community self-determination by celebrating the nation’s locally owned independent businesses and the stake each citizen has in shaping their home town’s future,” stated AMIBA director Jennifer Rockne.

October and Columbus Day are filled with the spirit of discovery. Local First of the Capital Region and SCORE invite our community to help celebrate by “Discovering our Independents”.  Take the pledge on Local First of the Capital Region’s website to “Discover” at least one unique local business during the week of October 13 – 19th.  A variety of Local businesses will be featured during the month of October on the website.

Local Business members can “Discover” low cost marketing by attending a round table discussion hosted by SCORE and Mr. Subb (a local independently owned business). With the partnership between Local First and SCORE, local businesses can find more and more resources to help them compete in today’s complicated economy.
