OKLAHOMA CITY - Sept. 21, 2013 - PRLog -- OKLAHOMA CITY, OKLAHOMA (September 10, 2013)… On Sept. 12, Ideal Feet (http://www.idealfeet.com/) will donate $2,400 worth of Feetures! (http://www.feeturesbrand.com/) socks to The Bridge (http://www.bridgenorthtexas.org/), a nonprofit that provides homeless adults in Dallas County with food, shelter and transitional services to help them stay off the streets for good.

“As a company, we’re always looking for ways to help people improve their foot health, and Feetures! socks are designed to increase circulation, reduce blistering and pull moisture away from the skin, which can help prevent bacteria growth and infections. They’re also really comfortable, so donating them to shelters made sense to us. They can be a big help for people who spend a lot of time on their feet,” says Aaron Compton, Ideal Feet founder and CEO.

One of the reasons Ideal Feet chose to donate socks is because homeless shelters often are in need of them. It’s an item most people don’t think about donating, but it’s essential.

“A new pair of socks to help protect our guests’ feet from the elements (in hot or cold weather) might seem like a small thing, but it really makes a big difference. And so many of our guests are dealing with foot problems from conditions like diabetes or just general exposure, so new, clean socks are so appreciated,” explains Haydedeh Jahansouz, care coordination manager at The Bridge.

This year Ideal Feet has donated more than $15,000 worth of Feetures! socks to homeless shelters, but it’s the company’s first donation of this kind in Texas. Ideal Feet began its Feetures! donation program in Oklahoma City, where the company is headquartered, and is  continuing that program in other areas the company serves. Ideal Feet has 12 stores nationwide, five of which are in Texas.

“We have such a large presence in Texas, and we want to support the communities we’re a part of. Dallas seemed like a good place to start, and when we heard about The Bridge, we knew it was the right fit,” says Compton.

In addition to providing emergency and intermediary shelter for the homeless, The Bridge also provides additional services to help people transition to a home of their own. Some services include assistance filling out paperwork for disability benefits and housing; mental health, chemical dependency and career counseling; medical care; and even transitional shelter, where people have a space to call their own with a bed and other belongings.

“What The Bridge is doing is great. They’re helping people with their immediate and future needs – enabling them to stand on their own two feet again. This is a tremendous accomplishment, and we’re honored to be a part of that process,” adds Amber Minton, Ideal Feet marketing manager.

Feetures! socks come in a variety of options. iWick® polyester and nylon fibers to wick away moisture; Merino+®, a blend of Merino wool and rayon from bamboo with anti-odor properties; compression; diabetic; Coolfeet Ventilation System® and The Perfect Toe® are some of the choices.

About The Bridge: Since it opened in 2008, The Bridge has helped house more than 1,200 adults, and chronic homelessness rates in North Texas have dropped by more than a third. Rather than serve as a Band-Aid for the North Texas homeless population, The Bridge prides itself on providing guests with the proper care to succeed once they’ve left the campus. The Bridge provides food, temporary housing and clothing for its guests, as well as transitional services for long-term recovery, which is the shelter’s primary focus.
