Follow on Google News | Harbour's Edge to Celebrate Completion of $5 Million Renovation ProjectMajor Renovations and Expansion Enhance Senior Living Community’s Health Center
By: GlynnDevins “Our Health Center has consistently received top honors for quality, and we’re excited because these renovations will only heighten the level of service we’re able to provide,” says Tom Smith, executive director of Harbour’s Edge. “Among the many changes, I think the emphasis on rehabilitation services and the new therapy rooms will have some of the biggest impacts.” Harbour’s Edge carries the Gold Seal Award from the state of Florida. The honor recognizing excellence in long-term care is given to less than three percent of skilled nursing providers in the state. Harbour’s Edge also has a five-star quality rating from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. “These renovations will allow us to provide even better health and wellness services, and also better lifestyle options for residents,” says Jennifer Stevens, Health Center administrator at Harbour’s Edge. The $5 million Health Center renovation project strengthens rehabilitation services, with an expanded physical and occupational therapy room, and new spa and meditation rooms. Renovations also include a new front entrance, a brand-new full-service kitchen, and expanded dining venue. The redesigned dining and commons areas feature a more modern and open concept. The design reflects a shift from a medical to more of a social model for a senior health service provider. “We want to appeal to multiple generations,” “When it comes to rehabilitation, older adults aren’t looking for a long-term stay,” says Stevens. “They want to get home as quickly as possible, and our Health Center and team is equipped to make that happen, and to minimize any need for further treatment.” The $5 million Health Center renovations and expansions are the first phase in community-wide enhancements at Harbour’s Edge. In the coming months, renovation work will begin in other parts of the continuing care retirement community. The total project exceeds $20 million.
