Sept. 19, 2013 - PRLog -- Keynote speaker for the 26th Annual Downriver Community Prayer Breakfast will be the pastor of a non-denominational, multicultural church who guided a membership of 20 to a congregation of more than 10,000.

The event will be held on Dec. 6 at the Southgate Crystal Garden, 16703 Fort St., beginning with breakfast at 7 a.m. and followed by an inspirational program at 7:30 a.m., and ending at 9:30 a.m. The non-denominational program of spiritual renewal will be led by local clergy.

The guest speaker, Jim Cymbala, is a native New Yorker who was raised in Brooklyn and is the author of several inspirational books as well as the pastor of the Brooklyn Tabernacle Church, known for its 260-member award-winning choir.

Cymbala ,  a graduate of the University of Rhode Island,  embarked on a business career after graduation. Although he had no formal theological training, he felt a calling to the ministry and was drawn to a small, struggling congregation in Brooklyn. He and his wife, Carol, took jobs to “make ends meet” at home and at the church. Through the years the church, which has a strong focus on prayer, grew in numbers. Later, the congregation trained pastors and sent them, along with small groups of believers, to establish new congregations in the area. The Brooklyn congregation replicated their program in Haiti, the Dominican Republic and later in Israel, Guyana and the Philippines.

Tickets for the event are $15 each, and can be ordered by sending a check, payable to Downriver Community Prayer Breakfast, to Bob Bovitz, CPA, PC, 1651 Kingsway Court, P.O. Box 445, Trenton, MI 4813-0445.

Sponsorships can be obtained for $600, and include 10 complimentary tickets, and sponsors will be listed in the program with a special designation. Student sponsorship are also available for $400 and can be ordered at the above address. This event is always a sell out, so reserve your tickets early. More information at 734-671-6300.
