Umnaih – Al Riyadi Club Caravan roams the governorates and trains basketball techniques in schools

Sept. 19, 2013 - PRLog -- Umniah has recently launched a local sports program “Umniah – Al Riyadi Club Caravan” which aims to reach out several provinces scattered throughout the kingdom by setting up basketball training programs and various matches to sharpen the students gaming skills.

The athletic campaign echoes the telecoms company’s dedication in supporting Jordan’s local communities and highlights its joint venture with Al Riyadi Club which has been renewed for the sixth consecutive year. The contract is geared towards Umniah’s Corporate Social Responsibility which encourages recreational activities among youth, especially basketball.

The events included visits to refugee camps, beginning in Jerash’s Gaza Camp and gradually making their way to a number of other underprivileged schools. Events set up under Umniah and Al Riyadi Club Caravan comprised of several training courses and workshops for students, where friendly matches were set up with several prizes presented to the winning teams.

Umniah’s Corporate and Marketing Communications Manager, Rania Abu Khader, said “The scheduled visits to Jordan’s governorates come within Umniah’s framework of encouraging public activities, specifically among students attending schools in underprivileged areas of the Kingdom with limited chances to excel. We are trying now to give these students the chance to improve their gaming skills and form competitive teams in the future.”

As she went on to underline the importance of promoting sportsmanship among youth and reassuring the continuation of its joint venture with Al Riyadi Club, which goes in line with its cooperate social responsibilities’ strategy (CSR).

Fadi Sabbah, Director of Al Riyadi Club, said, “The club is pleased with the progress resulting from the joint venture with Umniah as it gives new opportunities to youth to develop their gaming skills, as well as helps them get more involved with outdoor activities.”

Sabbah pointed out that an agreement with influential companies like Umniah comes to reinforce and support athletic activities around the Kingdom.

The 2013 partnership with Al Riyadi Club includes a combination of sporting activities and national competitions held between rival teams and coordinated by both parties in recent years, in addition to a number of other events including local competitions and annual trips set up from the kids & youth teams of Al Riyadi Club.
