What Does Your Door Say About You?
Sept. 19, 2013 - PRLog -- At Door Furniture Direct, we know just how important your front door is, to the visual aesthetic of your home, especially if you’re looking to woo buyers and make a sale.

But depending on which colour you choose for your new front door, you’re also sending a signal to the rest of the world; about your home, and about you too. So what do the various colours mean, and which should you choose for your place?

Red

Red is the colour of passion, and a red door signifies that the home behind it is a passionate place; vibrant, full of life and drama, energy and excitement. They’re typically fun places to be, and this is reflected in the homeowner: generally a happy and outgoing person.

In fact, a separate study ranked these people as the absolute happiest by door colour, and when asked to choose a new colour for the front door at 10 Downing St, the majority of British people chose red.

Blue

While red door owners are considered the happiest, blue remains the most popular choice of front door colour in many studies. A blue door signifies that the home within is a place of serenity and calm. Homeowners with a blue door most often create a safe haven or retreat from the hustle and bustle of the outside world.

Green

Also popular with homeowners is the colour green, for similar reasons. Some studies claim that green connotes health, safety and harmony. Homes with green doors are tranquil places, and green and brown doors have been considered the colour of people who were more content with their life.

They are perhaps content for good reason, because green is also considered the mark of intelligence and sophistication. If you find yourself living next door to a house with a green door, you’ll be pleased to know people that these people are also considered the best neighbours.

Yellow

The worst neighbours are reckoned to be the owners of a yellow door, but they’re unlikely to care even if that’s true. On average, the owners of yellow doors earn more money than any other. The bad news, if you’re in the area, is that they’re also on average the loudest!

Brown

Perhaps unsurprisingly, brown doors are connected to all things natural and organic. But psychologically a brown door could mean one of two things, depending upon the shade. A brown door is said to indicate warmth, stability and reliability. But darker shades of brown suggest something else entirely, namely a desire for privacy and isolation.

Pink

Owners of pink front doors desire anything but privacy: these folk are considered the most daring and outgoing of all. Incredibly, studies also indicate that homeowners with pink doors have the most friends. This in turn suggests that a house with a pink front door is likely to be party central more often than not.

Black

The message from a black door is something else entirely. Black doors convey power, sophistication and authority. If you’re passing through a black door expect less parties than you would behind a pink one. Homes with black door are most often serious place inhabited by people of substance. That’s not to suggest they won’t have friends; but they’re likely to have followers too.

So what does your front door say about you? And when the time comes to choose another, which colour will you go for?
