Winner of the 2007 APTA Gold Award for the best overall safety program in America and now Vice Chairman of the APTA Bus Safety Committee, Mr. Ciccarella has gone from strength to strength, conceiving, creating, implementing and directing a great number of transportation safety programs and especially paratransit safety and customer care driver training programs. He has been rewarded by seeing these programs come to fruition, raising the levels of safety and customer care in the companies concerned. These have not been small organizations. Mr. Ciccarella has expertise as a senior executive in a $2.2 billion passenger transportation company and has directed large-scale change management processes.
Mr. Ciccarella was attracted to Chicago-based SCR Medical Transportation for a number of reasons and saw the company as a perfect fit for his skills. “It was an opportunity for me to move back into the paratransit industry [after a senior position at Illinois Central School Bus in Joliet, IL] and to become part of a company that is growing and is clearly going to expand, which fits in with my personal goals,” he said, adding, “From what I have seen so far we have a very dedicated crew of individuals at SCR who have been around for a while and understand the business – they really care and are passionate about the folks that we carry on the buses, and have the utmost concern for their safety and well-being.”
Frank Ciccarella hopes to help shape the training and safety departments to be among the very best in the industry and feels that the people and the company culture are in place to achieve this.
“I’m really excited to be here at SCR – it’s a growing company and an exciting opportunity,”
Mr. Ciccarella took up his new position on Monday, August 26th.
SCR has built a strong reputation as the premier paratransit operator in one of the nation’s toughest operating environments by taking on Chicago’s legendary weather and traffic congestion to deliver twenty-five years of exceptional service both in on-time performance and service productivity. Paramount to SCR’s success is the ability to schedule the optimal mix of resources, providing ADA and non-ADA community transportation services to a six county area of northeastern Illinois. Capitalizing on our original expertise in non-emergency medical transportation, SCR continues to provide extensive service in this sector including major projects with the Veterans Administration covering parts of Wisconsin, Illinois and Indiana.
