Follow on Google News | Minnesota Student Leadership Seminar: 6th AnnualBy: West Point Society of Minnesota The West Point Society of Minnesota will be hosting the Minnesota Student Leadership Seminar November 8th 2013 at the Mounds View Community Center. This seminar was honored to be presented with a 2012 Ethical Citizen Award at the Capitol for its role in positively impacting the development of ethical leadership within our state. About one hundred students and fifty faculty members from Minnesota schools will participate in the Minnesota Student Leadership Seminar. The inspiring and interactive one-day event is meant to excite the leaders of tomorrow about character and ethics and to help in the development of the next generation of leaders within our communities. The 2013 Keynote Speaker is Chad Weinstein, President of Ethical Leaders in Action. Chad is an inspirational speaker whose company coaches teams and individuals to reach their potentials as ethical leaders. Small group breakout sessions will be jointly led by current West Point cadets and Minnesota ROTC cadets. The cadets will lead the participating students in defining a set of personal values through the use of realistic scenarios of everyday ethical dilemmas relevant to their age group. Participating faculty will be engaged in a facilitated discussion focused on developing a school environment that graduates students who understand critical thinking, moral-reasoning, and values based decision making – all within existing academic subjects, sports, and other extracurricular activities. A primary mission of the MN Student Leadership Seminar is to give faculty ethical leadership training and tools they can use within their environment without adding expense to their budget. This event is being organized by the West Point Society of Minnesota and made possible through charitable contributions from individuals and businesses that include Pentair, US Bank and Farley Planning Group. It is being offered at no cost to participating schools. More information about the event can be found at http://www.minnesotastudentleaders.org.
