The 50-year old international firm with nearly 2,000 employees recently signed a long-term lease for 43,000 square-feet of space at the 550 Corporate Center Building, a 20-story high rise located in San Diego’s central business district.
Bill Siegel, president and CEO of Kleinfelder, said “We’re continuing to transform our company with a focus on long-term, global growth and value creation. Our new corporate headquarters in Downtown San Diego are a fundamental element of our business strategy.”
Kris Michell, president and CEO of the Downtown San Diego Partnership, said Kleinfelder’
“Companies know that today’s workforce is demanding a vibrant urban core that fosters sustainability, innovation, and creativity,”
Downtown San Diego provides many benefits, including its close proximity to San Diego International Airport, public transportation, and a high-energy civic center. Michell added that Downtown San Diego has also been increasing in popularity among architecture and engineering firms because it delivers the environment desired by entrepreneurs, innovators, and artists.
Siegel agrees: “We are an energized, growing firm, and wanted to relocate to an area that matched our drive. Although we looked at other exciting areas, each with positive attributes, we believe we made the best choice for our company.”
“Being Downtown, we will be within walking distance to many of our energy, facilities, government, and transportation clients,” Siegel explains. “This will allow us to deepen our established relationships while providing streamlined, faster service. For our people and our clients, Downtown offers a sense of collaboration that is vital to our business.”
Kleinfelder will move from its current headquarters in Kearny Mesa to the Downtown location in March 2014. The company’s name and logo will be prominently displayed on the north side of the building.
