Follow on Google News | The Morris County Arts Workshop announces Fall Classes and Registration Available NowThe Morris County Arts Workshop (MCAW), the non-profit organization which brings after-school art, music, language arts, and cultural programs to youth and seniors, is proud to announce registration for its fall classes is now open.
Along with numerous private and group art and music classes, some of the new exciting offerings include pottery at The Hive; MCAW singers; “Get Fit”; video game design; Lango Languages for Kids, Robotics, Rock Band Elementary, Archery, Mad Science and Ballet and Tap to name a few. In addition to providing outstanding music and art programs, MCAW also offers monthly entertainment at The Hive, its storefront location in the Chester Springs (ShopRite) Shopping Mall. MCAW Director Jane Shatz explains, “Each month we offer the MCAW Movie Night where guests can enjoy a movie and guided discussion about the film. We also host a lively Open Mic Night where people of all ages come out to share their talents whether it be music, poetry, comedy or storytelling. It is always a fun filled night and the next one is scheduled for Saturday, September 28, 2013 at 7 p.m. The sign up for acts start at 6:30 p.m.” MCAW has also partnered with Chester Recreation to offer more arts and sports related programs. Through Chester Arts & Recreation (CA&R), it co-sponsored the popular Chester Family Film Festival hosted by Chester resident and comedian Jim Breuer. “More than 600 area residents came out to listen to the hometown Buffalo Chicken Surf Club Band and MCAW’s Rock Bands before viewing very funny and entertaining films submitted by families,” notes Shatz. “It was a wonderful time and we can’t wait to do it again next year. We invite everyone to start sifting through those funny family clips to submit.” This fall MCAW will once again host its annual Halloween Workshop celebrating art, music, family and spooky fun on Saturday, October 26, 2013 from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. at The Hive in Chester. About the Morris County Arts Workshop Founded in 2003 by Jane Shatz, a Juilliard School of Music dance alumna and Chester resident, the Morris County Arts Workshop (MCAW) is a non-profit group created to nurture and promote the love for the arts in children of all ages. The program is community based and offers a wide variety of classes from musical instrument lessons to voice to painting to yoga to language and martial arts. Classes are currently held in Chester and Mendham public schools as well as The Hive in the Chester Springs Shopping Center on Route 206 in Chester, NJ. There are two sessions per year which culminate with a special Showcase performance and art display in the fall and spring.
