FORT MYERS, Fla. - Sept. 18, 2013 - PRLog -- Canterbury School has extended its contract with Entech to modernize the school’s technology and fully support its growing IT needs. In addition, as the new school year begins, teachers now have access to new laptops, four new student computer labs, iPad® tablets in every classroom, and wireless networking throughout the 32-acre campus.

For the past several years, Entech has managed and maintained Canterbury’s IT infrastructure and assisted in their IT budgeting process. Starting this year, Entech also became completely responsible for the school’s IT department, including help desk support and onsite remediation services. Additionally, Entech will play a central role alongside Canterbury’s leadership team in developing and implementing the school’s future technology strategy.

“Over the last several years, we’ve collaborated with Canterbury’s administrators to improve and advance the technology available to students and teachers while staying within our assigned budget,” said Jake Spanberger, Vice President of Entech. “We’re excited about working even more closely with all of their dedicated staff. It’s truly an honor to be considered a part of their team.”

The newest improvement is the ability for educators to teach with an Apple iPad® in every classroom. The tablets are connected wirelessly to the room’s projector, allowing teachers to take advantage of the latest tablet-based educational apps for their students.

Other upgrades include migrating teachers from desktops to laptops, consolidating the infrastructure of 35 servers down to two energy-efficient servers, and replacing all of the computers in the Intermediate School. With the money saved, the school was able to create four complete computer labs including a mobile laptop cart that can support a full class of 22 students.

“We take pride in being on the cutting edge of education,” said Tony Paulus, Head of School at Canterbury. “Entech’s expertise has helped us improve the lives of our faculty and students and further prove our commitment to academic excellence. We’re pleased to be working more closely with their team in the years to come.”
