ITC Grand Chola, a Luxury Collection hotel and ITC Hotels’ flagship property in South India has completed a year of successful operations. This palatial tribute to the imperial Chola dynasty is one of the largest hotels in the country and has since become synonymous with Chennai’s skyline.

Speaking on the occasion, Philippe H Charraudeau, Vice President & General Manager, ITC Grand Chola says, “It has been an eventful year since we opened our doors to the city of Chennai, India and the rest of world. ITC Grand Chola has enabled employment for 2500 people and has facilitated training and internship programs for hospitality students from all over India and several other countries.  At present, a strength of approximately 1100 personnel is behind the functioning of the hotel.

The hotel is home to one of the largest convention spaces in the country and has facilitated several high profile weddings, much talked about car launches, prestigious exhibitions like that of the World Crafts Council, Indian Association Congress which showcased the city’s MICE offerings and Madras Week celebrations. Its 600 living spaces and 10 culinary destinations have won several accolades within a year of operations. For instance, the Raja Raja Chola – Grand
Presidential Suite was listed in Elite Traveller’s 101 best suites in the world. The first of its kind luxury vegetarian restaurant, Royal Vega won the Times Now Foodie Award for Best Vegetarian Restaurant in the country. The Times Food Guide Awards have recognized Peshawri as the Best North Indian restaurant and Ottimo – Cucina Italiana as the Best Italian Restaurant. Pan Asian continues to be No. 1 on TripAdvisor’s list of restaurants in Chennai. Moreover, the hotel was also featured on Conde Nast Traveller’s Hot List 2013 for being one of The World’s 50 Best New Hotels.
