Follow on Google News | Spreadshirt Launches Touch-Optimised T-shirt Designer in UKEcommerce Platform sees 50% more customer interaction on touch version
By: PR Savvy Spreadshirt orders from touch devices are already almost 1 in 5 in the USA and estimates for growth in mobile-commerce are around 30% next year (double that of e-commerce). Spreadshirt has responded to this demand by creating a state-of-the- Philip Rooke, CEO of Spreadshirt, explains, “Touch devices have a completely different user experience not only due to a reduced surface area but also because of the lack of keys. Instead of the desktop’s hover-and-click, tablets and smart phones are generally touch-and-swipe devices. So we’ve created an offering which responds to that difference, but retains an intuitive and for users exciting to use interface.” He continues, “We expect double-digit growth rates this year from visits via mobile devices and wanted to improve our customer experience accordingly.” The Spreadshirt developers continue to also solve design issues around customisation on a range of new products varying from smart phones (with cameras and edges) to flip flops (curved shapes). Philip Rooke adds, “Technology is the core of any e-commerce platform and behind our new offerings is an agile team of creative, motivated developers and product managers. Two of them for example, developed a framework with blocks of technology that can be reused to build future offerings. Those modules can be easily combined into more complex building blocks. This framework is the basis for our proprietary, tablet version of the t-shirt designer and meant that we could get it active within only a few months.” This launch marks the first in a series of measures Spreadshirt is taking to make the platform easier to use for both its customers and shop partners. An improved search, easier international publishing and other features will follow soon.
