WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. - Sept. 16, 2013 - PRLog -- The Crowne Plaza Hotel White Plains revealed a $15 million facelift at the official grand opening ceremony on September 10, 2013.  Over 150 guests attended the grand opening including key dignitaries, Westchester County Executive Robert P.  Astorino, White Plains Mayor Thomas Roach and Public Safety Commissioner David Chong.

County Executive Astorino stated The Crowne Plaza is a great destination for business and leisure travel in Westchester County. He said, “This is a crowning achievement of what has happened at The Crowne Plaza and we are so proud of the tourism industry in Westchester. It is now a destination and we are sold out tonight here at the hotel. The tourism trade is a $1.7 billion dollar industry in Westchester County alone, so it is getting bigger and bigger and we are glad you're a part of it.”

Astorino also referenced hosting his election as County Executive in 2009 at The Crowne Plaza Hotel, and hopes to celebrate again in November at the hotel.

Champagne and hors d’ouevres were served in the newly renovated Grand Ballroom. A silent auction was held to benefit “Shelter in the Storm,” an organization founded by InterContinential Hotels Group to help hotels aid storm victims.

General Manager of the hotel Scott de Savoye said, "Today we are celebrating our Crowne’ing Achievement. We wanted to invite the community to come celebrate with us."

Among the improvements from the $15 million project are complete renovation of 402 guest rooms and suites to include all furniture, carpet, drapes, bathrooms and bedding.  In addition, all guest corridors were renovated, and the project included the installation of 42” flat screen TV’s in all guest rooms and suites. 17,000 square feet of meeting space was renovated, as well as front desk renovation and expansion of the fitness center with installation of new equipment.

White Plains Mayor Thomas Roach described what the hotel has meant to the city over the past 28 years. Roach said, “The financial commitment invested in refreshing this property is a vote of confidence in what we are trying to do in this city.”
