ATLANTA - Sept. 16, 2013 - PRLog -- Sociercise, LLC  announced today that registration is now open for the Warrior Appreciation Race to benefit the Wounded Warrior Project that is being hosted on the company's virtual racing platform.  Over 47,000 servicemen and women have been injured in the recent military conflicts.  Wounded Warrior Project has 18 programs and services which are uniquely structured to nurture the mind and body, and encourage economic empowerment and engagement for these returning heroes.

The Warrior Appreciation Race is a way for people to support the Wounded Warrior Project by running or walking during a seven day racing period on the Sociercise platform.  The new technology created by Sociercise uses the combination of the company's website and iPhone app to host these virtual charity races.  Separating this event from more traditional running races is the fact that participants can join the race from any location and run as many times and as far as they want between October 1st and 7th during which time they will log miles using the Sociercise Real Time Running Races iPhone app.

This event allows participants raise money to benefit the Wounded Warrior Project by collecting pledges for each mile that they complete during the multi-day racing period.  Through the Sociercise fun and fair pledge process donors will also be able to set a minimum donation amount and a maximum donation amount just in case the runner they are supporting does not log enough miles or logs more than the donor was expecting.  Registration for the event is free and only requires an iPhone and a willingness to go the extra mile for these amazing warriors.

Tom Vinkler, one of the founders of Sociercise says "The Wounded Warrior Project is a wonderful organization and we are happy to host this event to benefit these amazing individuals and families.  Our hope is that groups and teams of people will challenge each other to participate in this event to raise money and log miles in support of Wounded Warrior Project."

To register as a runner for this event or to support a racer visit the Warrior Appreciation Race dashboard on the Sociercise website.  Registration takes less than a minute and participants can begin collecting pledges immediately on their personal running page on Sociercise.com.
