Douglas Jimerson Performs at Fort McHenry National Monument on 9/14/13 for Defenders' Day, 1:00 PM

Saturday, September 14, 2013, Fort McHenry National Monument and Historic Shrine commemorates Defenders' Day, the Maryland holiday. Douglas Jimerson is the featured musician performing War of 1812 period songs, from 1:00 PM to 4:30 PM.
 
BALTIMORE - Sept. 14, 2013 - PRLog -- It's time to celebrate Maryland history! Bring the family and enjoy a day of reenacting, music, and celebration hosted by the National Park Service. Fort McHenry National Monument and Historic Shrine commemorates Defenders' Day, the Maryland holiday marking the anniversary of the Battle of Baltimore from September 12-14, 1814, with day-long events on Saturday, September 14, 2013. War of 1812 reenactors will take the field, a replica of the original Star Spangled Banner will be raised, Governmor Martin O'Malley will review the events, and at 1:00 PM tenor Douglas Jimerson will sing a program of War of 1812 period music accompanied by Bob Clayton. Some of the favorite songs that Jimerson will sing are: "Drunken Sailor," "Yankee Doodle," "The Minstrel Boy," and "Chester." Cannons will be fired by the National Guard. Fireworks will cap off the evening. NEW U.S. QUARTERS WITH AN IMAGE OF FT. MCHENRY WILL BE AVAILABLE FOR THE FIRST TIME, distributed by M&T Bank. Many families come for the entire day. Jimerson says, "It's my favorite patriotic event of the year." If you live in Maryland, you should not miss this celebration!
