Wives Behind the Badge, Inc. Oklahoma Community Hero Award Winner

By: Wives Behind the Badge, Inc.

Sept. 13, 2013 - PRLog -- Wives Behind the Badge, Inc. ® National Community Hero Awards are presented to an officer who has gone above and beyond his/her role as a police officer, or to officers who have made a difference in their community.

Wives Behind the Badge, Inc.  is proud to announce the Oklahoma State Community Hero Award recipient for 2013 is: Deputy David Disch of Okmulgee Co. Sheriff's Office, Okmulgee, Oklahoma.

Deputy Disch responded to a call on January 02, 2013 where a standard domestic dispute call turned into a shots fired scene. Deputy Disch was shot in the chin, but continued to stay on scene after returning fire and defending his fellow officers. He was eventually removed from the scene for having losing too much blood, but merely 15 days later, he was back to work to serve and protect.

His wife, Danielle Dish, shares that he has remained the most “humble man and refused to be called a hero,” but in her eyes he is more than a hero. Deputy Disch says his life as a police officer is his calling, and he could not imagine doing anything else in life.

We would like to thank him for his outstanding dedication and his services to his community by presenting Deputy David Disch with our Wives Behind the Badge, Inc. National Community Hero Award on behalf of Oklahoma State. Job well done.
