TUNBRIDGE WELLS, U.K. - Sept. 13, 2013 - PRLog -- A team of ten executives from Schneider Electric’s (http://www.schneider-electric.com/site/home/index.cfm/uk/) UK IT business are riding their bicycles across Britain this weekend to raise awareness and funds for the Teenage Cancer Trust. The team will ride approximately 80 km each day to cover the distance from Whitehaven to Newcastle-upon-Tyne. The route which skirts the Lake District, and crosses the Pennines, features demanding climbs and some of Britain’s most beautiful scenery.

Richard Irwin, General Service Manager, Schneider Electric UK, who is leading the team said, “Around 7 young people are diagnosed with cancer every day in the UK. The Teenage Cancer Trust leads the world in the care of young people with cancer. We believe it’s incredibly important work and we’re delighted to be riding our bikes to help raise funds for the benefit of young cancer sufferers”.

Dale Wrangles who leads Schneider Electric’s business in the UK and is one of the team undertaking the challenge said, “At Schneider Electric we’re firmly committed as a business to sustainability, environmental management and efficient resource use so it makes perfect sense to raise money for a charity by riding bikes over some beautiful and challenging terrain”.

The group who’ve been undertaking training rides in the lead up to the weekend still expect the ride to be physically demanding. Mr Irwin added, “Riding 235km over 3 days is more than most people in Britain manage over a full year, so whilst we’ve put in some training, there’s no question that’ll be a good challenge for each of us. We have a group of mixed abilities from novice riders to experienced and strong cyclists. We’re not looking at setting any speed records but we’re looking forward to the adventure and to raising money for the Teenage Cancer Trust.”

The team hope to raise £10,000 for the Teenage Cancer Trust and welcome donations via the Just Giving website: http://www.justgiving.com/richard-irwin2

The riders will be tweeting (https://twitter.com/SchneiderITUK) pictures and updates during the rides using the hashtag #C2C4TCT on Twitter and Instagram.
