PHOENIX - Sept. 13, 2013 - PRLog -- With high quality digital cameras embedded in pocket sized mobile devices and easy to manipulate applications such as Instagram, just about anyone can make interesting photographs and share them with the world in seconds.
The monOrchid invites artists and amateurs alike to submit images for the upcoming exhibition "Social Photography: An experiment in virtual and physical space".  The theme of the exhibition is that the images are all created using mobile devices and manipulating them with effects in applications on those devices.  And, the best part, anyone can participate!
Gallery Director Justin Germain states, "This show is an experiment in social networking in a physical space instead of in the virtual world.  The goal is for the images to be shared anonymously with the viewer, we want to transform the gallery into something resembling an online photo album, while producing tactile objects in physical space that can be purchased. So its not only a fun way for anyone to have their images included in an art gallery exhibition, but also allows us to involve the community and touches on social aspects of consumption, mass creativity, and technology."
Anyone who would like to participate can upload their images through a portal created on the Image Craft website, and the company will professionally print them for the show.  Germain adds, "We set up the portal so the artist can simply upload their images and pay for the prints (at a great price, only $6.50 each) and once the deadline comes we will pick up all the prints and install them in the gallery.  In order to add to the benefits of the exhibition we ask that the artwork be donated to raise funds to support Shade Projects, a nonprofit organization dedicated to creating awareness of art and culture in local communities.  The prints will sell for $20.00 each to support future community engagement art programs by the organization.

The exhibition, sponsored by Image Craft (http://imcraft.com) will be displayed in the Bokeh Gallery at the monOrchid, 214 E Roosevelt St, Phoenix, AZ, December 6-28, 2013.
