The Zesty Incubator is a business initiative, which seeks to give students real-world experiences building websites and working with clients while also helping businesses in need of professional websites.
The program was created by Variable Action, a San Diego-based software company and the creators of the Zesty website builder. On the USD campus, Assistant Professor of Marketing Dr. Justine Rapp coordinates the program as part of her Digital Marketing and Social Media class.
The program runs from October 8, 2013 until December 20, 2013. During this time, the participating businesses attend three meetings with the students. Students create three different websites for each business using the Zesty website builder, and the businesses select which ones will be the face of their operations on the Internet. Along with supporting the students during the design process, the Variable Action design team then polishes and refines the winning websites. The businesses also each receive three different digital marketing plans.
“Working with Zesty and the team has been one of the best decisions I’ve made for my business,” says Lisa Miller, owner of Inspired Travel Journeys and a Spring 2013 participant in the Zesty Incubator at USD. “The new website is faster, more user friendly, and has the professional look and design I’ve always wanted for my site.“

To participate in the program, business owners must be based in San Diego. They must also have either no website or a website that they created themselves. The program is free for the businesses, though they will need to pay for the hosting of their websites on Zesty. To apply for the program, please visit i.gozesty.com/
