Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s 50th Anniversary of the “I Have a Dream” Speech to thousand’s in local communities all over America.
By: Art Rocker This movement started one (1) week prior to the Washington, DC commemoration of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., 50th Anniversary of the “I Have a Dream” speech in Washington, DC on August 28, 2013. Rocker states, “Rev. King had a burning desire to have a poor people’s campaign in Washington, DC but due to his untimely death, he never succeeded in bringing the poor a ‘Chicken in every Pot’.” Therefore, this group decided to continue the dream of Dr. King in America. Operation People for Peace brought Dr. King’s dream to a local level for the poor because many poor and underserved could not afford to go to Washington, DC to celebrate Dr. King. The organization gained a network of more than 25,000 underserved and attached to more than 6 affiliates which represent over 250,000 plus voiceless people doing the national tour. Rocker continues, “Hats off to the sponsors with a tip.” Now, we are having a continuation of the commemoration of Dr. King’s “I Have a Dream” speech and visiting the states of Ohio, Georgia, Illinois, North Carolina, Miami, FL, New York and many other states for our poor brown, black, and white brothers and sisters. We have plans to visit the Appalachians of Kentucky and North Carolina for poor whites and poor blacks, where Dr. King wanted to lift up in America. Our charge is to organize our poor blacks, browns, and whites all over America so that we can bring a platform and petition to Washington, DC with our affiliates and represent them concerning the underserved and underrepresented who need a stimulus, a “Chicken in our Pot.” Governor Robert Bentley of Alabama states “Art Rocker is a source of pride to the state of Alabama,” Congressman Cedric L. Richmond of Louisiana’s 2nd Congressional District states, “I extend congratulations and best regards to Operation People for Peace and it’s Chairperson Arthur Rocker… along with its many affiliates and over 339,000 members.” Congresswoman Corrine Brown of Florida’s 5th Congressional District states, “I commend Art Rocker, his advocacy on behalf of the underserved, underrepresented, and disenfranchised is commendable.” Congressman Vern Buchanan of Florida’s 16th Congressional District awarded Art as Chairman of Operation People for Peace, Inc. with a Certificate of Congressional Recognition Commemorating the “50th Anniversary of I Have a Dream Speech” by the Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Congressman Jeff Miller of Pensacola in Florida’s 1st Congressional District went to the well of the U.S. House of Representatives to place this movement of Operation People for Peace’s Commemoration of the Fiftieth Anniversary of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s, “I Have a Dream” speech into the proceeding and debates of the 113th Congress, first session on Monday September 9, 2013. The Congressman gave strong accolades to Dr. King and his dream concerning an important lesson on history and equality to this day. Additionally, many Mayors, County and City Officials attended these rallies with congratulations.
