The LDCENY’S Sandy Relief efforts is coordinating a collaborative marketing campaign, entitled “WE’RE HERE,” promoting local businesses that were affected by Hurricane Sandy in Coney Island.
By: Local Development Corporation of East New York Totonno's Pizzeria: A symbol of resilience in Coney Island: When we think of perseverance and spirit, Totonno's in Coney Island comes to mind. A landmark business of 89 years, now in its third generation, was forcefully shutdown in 2009 for nearly a year due to a fire. Recently affected by Hurricane Sandy in 2012 the business was forced yet again to close for nearly five months. Totonno's is back in business, and they are a perfect example of endurance! That's why, the Sandy Relief program at the LDC of East New York congratulates Totonno's and salutes all the businesses in Coney Island that were affected by the storm, and promotes their message: "We're back. Shop local! Support Coney Island businesses". Please support the businesses that were affected by Hurricane Sandy in Coney Island. About the LDCENY - The Local Development Corporation of East New York is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to making East Brooklyn a better place to live and work. The LDC pursues this objective by promoting a physical environment and other conditions that are supportive to businesses, large and small. LDC initiatives include working with city agencies to promote safety and sanitation, preserving and developing the local industrial base and attracting new businesses to the area. The LDC provides support to businesses located in the community’s industrial areas, commercial strips and retail malls. We also provide assistance to individuals who are starting or expanding businesses. These range from sole proprietorships with a few employees to larger companies employing hundreds of people.
