Emerge Clinical Decisions Solutions Joins Short List of CDS Software Certified by Drummond Group

DALLAS - Sept. 11, 2013 - PRLog -- (Dallas) September 11, 2013 – Emerge Clinical Decision Solutions today announced its accreditation as the first cardiology-specific CDS software in the country to be certified for meaningful use.

Emerge has been tested and certified under the Drummond Group's Electronic Health Records Office of the National Coordinator Authorized Certification Body (ONC-ACB) program. This EHR software is compliant in accordance with the criteria adopted by the Secretary of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.

By implementing the Emerge software into existing EHRs, hospitals and practices will qualify for Stage 2 of Meaningful Use for everything under clinical decision support defined by the HITECH Act.

“Being one of the first CDS technologies to earn this certification for 2014 brought many hurdles,” said Dr. Daniel, creator and chief medical officer of Emerge. “It was worth it to us knowing that we could help hospitals achieve Stage 2 criteria while closing the gap on the number of patients receiving inappropriate care, improving quality of care for patients and creating higher efficiency of the facility, saving the hospital and patients time and money.”

When Stage 2 of Meaningful Use was released last year, more guidelines for clinical decision support were put in place, and with them came more incentives for hospitals and practices to adopt EHRs and achieve meaningful use.

One quality that differentiates Emerge from other CDS software is how highly complementary it is to any existing EHR. Emerge works in the background of the EHR and can be tailored to fit the specific needs and workflow of the healthcare provider.

“We take certification seriously,” said Spencer McDonald, president of Emerge. “In everything we do at Emerge we begin with the premise of providing better quality of care for the patient, not impacting the doctors workflow and automating the documentation. My number one priority as for 2013 was to gain certification for Stage 2 of Meaningful Use and I am happy to announce, mission accomplished.”

Drummond Group’s ONC-ACB certification program certifies that EHRs meet the meaningful use criteria for either eligible provider or hospital technology. In turn, healthcare providers using the EHR systems of certified vendors are qualified to receive federal stimulus monies upon demonstrating meaningful use of the technology – a key component of the federal government’s push to improve clinical care delivery through the adoption and effective use of EHRs by U.S. healthcare providers.
