RICHMOND, Va. - Sept. 11, 2013 - PRLog -- The Central Virginia Chapter of the National MS Society is hosting its sixth annual Women on the Move Luncheon (http://www.nationalmssociety.org/chapters/var/fundraising-events/women-on-the-move-/index.aspx) on Thursday, September 19th at the Richmond Marriott (Downtown) from 11:30am to 1:30pm. The two-hour event will kick off with a silent auction and raffle, featuring extraordinary prizes and packages such as a $1,000 Saxon Shoes shopping spree, a Virginia Tech Hokies prize pack, a 14kt gold bracelet from Vera’s Fine Jewelers and more. The keynote speaker for the Luncheon will be musician David Osmond – nephew of Donny and Marie Osmond and American Idol contestant – who was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 2006. The event will culminate with the presentation of the Woman on the Move Award to one of the following finalists, all of whom have made outstanding contributions to her community:

Melissa Ball, CEO - Ball Office Products
Debra Marlow, CEO/Executive Director – Lucy Corr Village
Lisa Schaffner, Public Relations and Marketing Director - UNOS
Darrel Tillar Mason, Attorney

Women are especially impacted by multiple sclerosis, as they are diagnosed with the disease two to three times as often as men. The Women on the Move luncheon is a way for men and women, alike, to honor all women affected by MS and create awareness of the disease. There will also be two other Women on the Move Luncheons in the Central Virginia area, one in Kilmarnock (http://www.nationalmssociety.org/chapters/var/fundraising...) on September 18th and one in Fredericksburg (http://www.nationalmssociety.org/chapters/var/fundraising-events/women-on-the-move-/index.aspx) on September 20th.

Tickets to the Women on the Move Luncheon can be purchased online at moveVA.org (http://www.nationalmssociety.org/chapters/var/fundraising-events/women-on-the-move-/index.aspx) or by calling 804-591-3041. All money raised through the Luncheon will provide research grants to find a cure for MS, as well as provide financial assistance for families in Central Virginia facing the expenses (such as medical costs) of having MS.
