Welcome news for Clarendon Serviced Apartments as digital firms are heading to Holborn

Technology firms are taking up lets in London’s trendy Holborn and the West End. The growth in the creative economy in the district means it could be set to become the capital’s new business hub.
LONDON - Sept. 10, 2013 - PRLog -- Shoreditch and East London have long been closely associated with the creative sector; Tech City, Silicon Roundabout, they were so named because of the number of digital firms which boasted the district’s postcode on their stationary.

New figures from commercial estate agent Knight Frank suggest that could be set to change.  It is tech firms, not financial companies, snapping up office space in London’s Square Mile. Research from the estate agent suggests that by the end of 2013, technology, media and telecoms firms will occupy 1.6 million square feet of office space in the City of London. That’s up nearly a quarter on last year.

The shift is driven by major firms like Amazon (who have moved to Holborn) and Publicis (Chancery Lane). It follows a busy 2012 for the sector as well with Skype moving to the neighbourhood along with advertising giant Weber Shandwick, telecoms firm HTC and Grey Advertising.

Knight Frank believes it is the growth of the 4G network fuelling the move as media firms outgrow their warehouse office space and look for something more centrally located. With internet connections one of the main tools for a technology or digital company, a central office reduces the downtime for connection. Other factors for the move include the central location of Holborn and its proximity to the capital’s infrastructure; it only takes five minutes to get to The City on the Central Line. There is a vibrant nightlife in Holborn with plenty of bars and restaurants like Guanabara, Brown Sugar and Bounce London.

The shift in emphasis in the types of business moving to Holborn will change the tone of the neighbourhood. It could become the new business hub. Like-minded firms tend to follow the major brands in their field when they move to a new district. Cheaper rents along with a suitable infrastructure make it easy to adapt the place to their needs and it is attractive for prospective clients to know they can travel to one part of the capital to do business with the creative industry.

Moving to a new part of town doesn’t just benefit the technology sector, it also benefits those industries that service business, like the travel sector. Companies like Clarendon Serviced Apartments benefit from this growth. New business means new jobs, which means staff relocating and looking for a place to stay. Short let or temporary accommodation in Holborn like a serviced apartment is ideal while flat-hunting. It allows the tenant to be centrally located, it’s cost-effective and most importantly it is a comfortable and stylish setting. North Mews, with its flexibility of one, two and three bedroom apartments is perfect for those moving as a single or relocating with their family.

Trendy Holborn could be set to be the new capital for business in London.
