Byron Park by Kisco Senior Living Celebrates “Discover Your Community” 2013 Active Aging Week

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - Sept. 9, 2013 - PRLog -- WALNUT CREEK, CA (September 4, 2013) --  The 2013 Active Aging Week theme “Discover Your Community” recognizes the important role that older adults play in a host of communities including vocational, geographical and cultural.  They are sources for history and leadership, caring and friendship.  As neighbors, club members, working professionals or volunteers, older adults are involved in their community.   Kisco Senior Living communities including Byron Park in Walnut Creek will host fun and exciting events that are open to the public during this week of national observance as part of their overall wellness programs and to celebrate seniors’ full participation in diverse areas of life.

Kisco Senior Living and its 20 communities in six states participate in the festivities every year along with their residents and the greater community. The company also partners with the International Council on Active Aging’s (ICAA) Changing the Way We Age® Campaign, an initiative that aims to shift the way society perceives aging.

The festivities at Byron Park will begin on Sunday, September 22, 6:00 p.m. with an Active Aging Week Kickoff Party.  The week’s scheduled events include:

Monday, Sept. 23 – 10:00 a.m. Fun Chair Volleyball Tournament vs the BridgePoint community in Los Altos and 7:00 pm Hearing Engineering with Dr. Gil

Tuesday, Sept. 24 - 12:00 p.m. First Century Club luncheon and Wisdom Circle

Wednesday, Sept. 25 – 9:00 a.m. Fruit Smoothie Wake Up, 10:00 a.m. trip to Oakland Zoo, 2:00pm Nutrition Lecture: The Plant Based Lifestyle and 7:00 p.m. Music Special

Thursday, Sept. 26 – 9:00 a.m. Fruit Smoothie Wake Up, 10:00 a.m. Discovery Walk at Heather Farms Park and 3:00 p.m. Trivia Showdown

Friday, Sept. 27 – 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monte Carlo Night with Happy Hour drinks, appetizers, Blackjack, Poker and Roulette

Saturday, Sept. 28 – 11:00 a.m.to 2:00 p.m. Byron Park Arts and Crafts Show
