Influential American Economist Peter Orszag to Lecture at Adelphi University

Peter Orszag, chairman of the financial strategy and solutions group at Citigroup Inc. and a former director of the Office of Management and Budget will be speaking on “Corporate America meets Behavioral Economics” at Adelphi University.
 
GARDEN CITY, N.Y. - Sept. 9, 2013 - PRLog -- Adelphi University is proud to announce that Peter Orszag, chairman of the financial strategy and solutions group at Citigroup Inc. and a former director of the Office of Management and Budget in the Obama administration, will be the guest speaker at the Erna S. Lovely Endowed Lecture this fall. The lecture entitled “Corporate America meets Behavioral Economics” will be held on Monday, October 7 at 6:00 p.m. in the Thomas Dixon Lovely Ballroom in the Ruth S. Harley University Center, 1 South Avenue, Garden City, NY. The event is free and open to the public.

Apart from overseeing the Financial Strategy and Solutions Group, Dr. Orszag also holds several leadership positions within Citigroup Inc. He is the vice chairman of Corporate and Investment Banking and the chairman of the Public Sector Group. Prior to his engagements with Citigroup Inc., Dr. Orszag served in the public sector for a significant time. He served as the Special Assistant to the President for Economic Policy and Senior Adviser on the Council of Economic Advisers during the Clinton administration, and as the director of the Congressional Budget Office before joining the Obama administration to run the Office of Management and Budget. He also formed a consulting group called Sebago Associates, which merged into Competition Policy Associates and was bought by FTI Consulting Inc.

Dr. Orszag serves as a contributing columnist at Bloomberg View, a distinguished scholar at the NYU School of Law and an adjunct senior fellow at the Council on Foreign Relations. He is a member of the Institute of Medicine of the National Academies of Sciences, and serves on the Board of Directors of the Peterson Institute for International Economics, the Mount Sinai Medical Center, the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, New Visions for Public Schools, ideas42, and the Partnership for Public Service.

He earned an A.B. summa cum laude in economics in 1991 from Princeton University, and obtained an M.Sc. and Ph.D. in economics from the London School of Economics, which he attended as a Marshall Scholar and Phi Beta Kappa member.
