Follow on Google News | Werewolves Inspire Upcoming Novel by Fantasy Author Tracy FalbePlanning for a late 2013 release of her 9th novel, Tracy Falbe has completed the manuscript for Werelord Thal: A Renaissance Werewolf Tale. The historical setting with paranormal creatures expands upon the author’s current fan base of fantasy fans.
By: Falbe Publishing Falbe chose Renaissance Europe for the setting of her paranormal adventure because it could serve as a complementary background to Thal’s werewolf power. He is in a society strained by rising transformations in religion, technology, and politics. Thal’s struggles to understand his power to transform between man and beast are mirrored by society’s deep conflict with its changing systems. “I was taught in college history that the institutions of our modern society emerged fully during the Renaissance. That’s why it’s also called the Early Modern period,” Falbe said. The Renaissance was a time when substantial develops took place. The modern world was born spiritually, commercially, politically, and even geographically with the inclusion of the New World that ultimately made global society. The print revolution was the 16th century equivalent to today’s internet because it massively increased the distribution of ideas. Technology advanced. Literacy increased. And the status quo often waged fierce backlashes against new ideas like Protestantism and scientific discovery. Although the modern world was conceived during the Renaissance it was still growing in a womb of ancient superstitions. People believed in magic, witchcraft, monsters, and shape shifters like werewolves. Injecting a paranormal romance into this setting was interesting for Falbe because she was working within a historical worldview that actively accepted such things. “It was fun to make real what people already believed in for the story,” Falbe said. Currently Werelord Thal is in the editing phase. Falbe has yet to announce a precise date for the novel’s official release, but late 2013 remains the goal for publication.
