By: Going Viral Productions & Marketing Kary Movers and Going Viral Productions & Marketing Corporation have teamed up again this year to host a cleanup of our amazing Canadian Shoreline. Last year was a huge sucess and this year, with the support of other companies named above who are donating items for the volunteers and general public, we expect an even bigger turnout this year. One of the major items cleaned up on the shoreline are plastic bags. We are so happy that Semiahmoo Shopping Mall is donating 100 reusable shopping bags to give out to volunteers and the general public. This will encourage people to reduce their use of the plastics that cause concern to our marine wildlife and birds. Tim Hortons has stepped up and is contributing free coffee and Timbits for volunteers who are out there giving of themselves, rain or shine. A generous gesture that we know the teams will enjoy. In addition C&K Courtesy Cleaners in Whote Rock has also stepped forward to donate 2 $50. gift certificates and the Abbotsford Heat Hockey Team contributed 2 pairs of tickets to a regular season game. SepticSam.com has donated a couple of T-shirts for giveaway draws. These are a few of the local businesses that have contributed to the event on September 21, 2013. "Kary Movers and GVPM Corporation is proud and greatful to the local business community who have helped to make this day even more fun and exciting for the many volunteers" stated LJ Brocke, the Operations and General Manager at Kary Movers. More business contributions are expected to be arriving prior to the event. The event is open to the general public and anyone wishing to come out should go online to www.shorelinecleanup.ca to find an event and sign up to participate in one near them. The Great Canadian Shoreline Cleanup has events all across Canada and collects hundreds of thousands of pounds of garbage. Kary Movers is one of the top Western Canadian moving companies. They offer full relocation services for corporate, residential, commercial, office and government clients in both local and long distance moves. They have been in the news countless times for the many charitable and community events they participate in. Kary Movers is a family run company and every employee feels as part of a family. Going Viral Productions & Marketing Corporation is a multimedia production service that works in all aspects of media productions and marketing. They specialize in the music and production industry in addition to the transportation industry but work with all spectrums of the business community. They have worked with Kary Movers and were able to even help Kary Movers trend on twitter which is a first for any moving company in a positive light. "The shoreline Cleanup is an amazing family event that allows families to not only come together to help the environment but also to spend quality time together learning about the various species inhabiting our coastal waters. Kids love it when they can clean but at the same time find starfish and crabs along the shore, seashells of various sizes, textures and colours and so much more. that followed up with the BBQ at the Kary Movers storage and truck warehouse makes it a great time for everyone", stated James of GVPM Corp. In 1994, a small team of employees and volunteers at the Vancouver Aquarium decided to clean up a local beach in Stanley Park to help protect the city’s shorelines. They submitted the data collected during this event to the International Coastal Cleanup, a global program managed by the Ocean Conservancy. By 1997, 400 volunteers were participating in 20 sites across British Columbia as part of the Great BC Beach Cleanup. In 2002, the Great Canadian Shoreline Cleanup emerged as a national program, providing all Canadians the opportunity to make a difference in their local communities. Cleanups started appearing in every province and territory, and by 2003, more than 20,000 volunteers were taking part. Over the following years, the program continued to expand its reach and influence, aided by the support of sponsors, donors, and partners (such as WWF Canada, who became a full partner of the Shoreline Cleanup in 2010). Public support and interest in the program also grew as Canadians gradually became more aware of the harmful effects of shoreline litter on both fragile aquatic ecosystems and people. In 2012, the Shoreline Cleanup celebrated its 19th anniversary with more than 57,000 volunteers, and expanded the spring cleanup to include school groups in Ontario and British Columbia. Today, it is recognized as one of the largest direct action conservation programs, as well as the most significant contributor to the International Coastal Cleanup in Canada.
