PRLog -- Sherry Saturno has been awarded a national Social Work Leadership in Palliative and End of Life Care Fellowship at New York University Silver School of Social Work. Saturno, who works as a New York Program Director at Beacon Health Strategies, will be researching health care solutions and services for the elderly and chronically ill through 2015. She is a Stanford University Certified Project Manager and holds Master's degrees from Columbia and Long Island Universities. A Diplomate in Clinical Social Work, Saturno was named the Social Worker of the Year for the State of New York as well as a Rising Star by the Business Council of Westchester in New York for her work in health care last year. The goals of palliative care include improving the quality of a seriously ill person's life and supporting that person during and after treatment. End of life care focuses on working with individuals diagnosed with a terminal condition that has become advanced and is incurable. New York University Silver School of Social Work, established in 1960, has four research centers: McSilver Institute for Poverty Policy and Research, Center for Latino Adolescent and Family Health, Center on Violence and Recovery, and NYU-ECNU Social Work and Social Policy Research Institute.
