Emerald supports World Alzheimer’s Month with free access to key content

Sept. 6, 2013 - PRLog -- United Kingdom - Emerald Group Publishing is proud to support World Alzheimer’s Month by offering free access to a selection of content in support of this year’s theme: “Dementia: a journey of caring”. The selected papers cover a range of dementia related topics including: the problems and possibilities of person-centred dementia care; involving people with dementia in the work of an organization; caring for those affected by dementia; and recent progress in the diagnosis and management of Alzheimer’s, which includes further insights into how it impacts on people’s lives.

One of the more recent studies adds to the limited research on staff knowledge about older people with intellectual disabilities and dementia. Another reports on an exploratory study into the provision of dementia advocacy in a time of austerity.

The articles are taken from Emerald’s Health & Social Care collection which contains over 5,000 journal articles and spans subjects encompassing mental health and working with vulnerable groups such as older people. Key journal titles in this area include Working with Older People, Quality in Ageing and Older Adults, and The Journal of Adult Protection.

Organized by Alzheimer's Disease International, World Alzheimer's Month aims to educate and challenge misguided ideas about dementia. It also highlights to governments, politicians and policy makers around the world that dementia is a serious health issue which puts significant pressure on health systems, something that will only continue to increase as the age of the population grows.
