By: Consortium Media Since its launch on Aug. 5, demand for the new transportation service in Oak Park has soared, requiring an additional vehicle to function during peak school hours from 6:38 – 9:23 a.m., and again from 2:23 – 4:23 p.m. The shuttle service currently operates Mondays-Fridays between 6:30 a.m. – 6:30 p.m. every 15 minutes during school peak traffic hours, and every 30 minutes the rest of the day. The new Kanan Shuttle Service is a collaboration between the Ventura County Public Works Agency, The City of Agoura Hills and First Transit. Operating shuttles feature a logo of a leaping mountain lion, seat 24 people per bus, are fully-accessible and have bicycle racks. The shuttle service transports riders along a 14-stop route that begins at the 101 Freeway and Kanan Road, and travels along Kanan Road for easy access to schools, parks and shopping. The service will be free until Nov. 2013. For more information about Kanan Shuttle Service and schedules, visit www.kananshuttle.com. End
