NEW YORK - Sept. 5, 2013 - PRLog -- Since September 11, 2001, almost 7,000 U.S. service members have died in the arena of war and over one million people in Iraq and Afghanistan have perished from the war on terror.

This Sunday, September 8, 2013, in commemoration of the twelfth anniversary of 9/11, the “9/11 Kills” event will demonstrate the complete death toll of September 11, 2001 in a dramatic way.

One volunteer will be dressed in white, to represent the approximately 3,000 victims who died on 9/11. Others in gray will represent additional U.S. deaths from subsequent wars, and those who died from health effects or other aspects of 9/11. All others will be dressed in black to represent those in other nations, including Iraq and Afghanistan, who have perished as a result of the war on terror.

“Every year the nation mourns the loss of 9/11/2001. But what if this tragedy needlessly and counterproductively initiated even more tragedies, that now dwarf the loss of 9/11? This year we want to recognize and visualize the full human cost of 9/11, which is larger than many know. This will be a vigil and tangible action for those who died on 9/11, but also the many more who have died since then,” explains organizer Michael Figa.

Demonstrators will gather in front of the USS Maine monument at Columbus Circle in Central Park from 1:00pm to 3:00pm.
