INDIANAPOLIS - Sept. 5, 2013 - PRLog -- The Interior Design Educators Council (IDEC) has partnered with the Council for Interior Design Accreditation (CIDA), International Interior Design Association (IIDA), National Council of Interior Design Qualification (NCIDQ), and Interiors & Sources magazine to host the 2013 interior design education video competition. The international competition, open to interior design students, interior design educators and interior design practitioners, calls for the creation of a short video that will demonstrate the importance of established interior design education and examination standards.

This year’s video theme is: How does interior design education intersect with the practice of interior design?

Each year thousands of interior design students complete their education and examination requirements in order to start their careers as interior design professionals. Qualified interior designers are skilled business people who are prepared to manage complex design projects, leading to better outcomes for clients and users. Building blocks to professional success include certifications, advanced degrees, mentoring, work placement and continuing education. These are just a few examples of how interior design education and the practice of interior design intersect to protect the public’s health, safety and welfare and quality of life through the preparation of interior design professionals.

The videos will be reviewed by a panel of judges from IDEC, CIDA, IIDA and NCIDQ. Three winners will be announced and each will receive a cash prize, certificate of achievement, an opportunity to have his or her video hosted on IDEC, CIDA, IIDA and NCIDQ’s Web sites along with recognition in an issue of Interiors & Sources magazine.

All videos must be completed and uploaded to the IDEC website by February 1, 2014. For more information on the contest and instructions on how to submit a video, visit http://www.idec.org/videocompetition.
