Ana Maria Couture displays social responsibility in Brazil

Brazilian designer Ana Maria launches charity campaign during New York Fashion Week and prepares for industry fairs later this month.

NEW YORK - Sept. 4, 2013 - PRLog -- New York, NY - Sept 4th, 2013 - Former model and entrepreneur Ana Maria is extending her ongoing charity work to a number of impoverished communities in the Northeast of Brazil this Fall.  The new campaign is titled: Looking good, doing good.  The label is encouraging women to empower less fortunate women, so that looking good translates to doing good.

I have helped a lot of people in Bahia already by building houses for families, buying beds for women who had just had C-sections and had been sleeping on the floor, also helping patients at hospitals that are not well equipped.  I can get resources for more people now, thanks to our recent success. It is great to know that my work makes women feel elegant across Brazil, the U.S. and Europe - that they feel good inside and out, because every time they buy a dress they are a part of my social work.” - said the designer.

Ana Maria Couture is supported by the Brazilian government and will be showcasing a new collection at the upcoming shows:

- Coterie at the Javits Center in New York City, Sept 17th through the 19th, 2013

The Brazilian-born designer works out of both New York and Stockholm creating pieces that have been worn down the red carpet, sold at Neiman Marcus  and at the Ana Maria Couture flagship store in São Paulo.  Ana Maria Couture is one of the few socially conscious labels engaging brand ambassadors that help promote their cause.

Brazilian celebrities and New York socialites started wearing the brand three years ago, when the company was a start-up.  Flattering silhouettes and the variety of color and fabrics made them popular for women attending a lot of evening functions,” – added Ana Maria – Now we have a following that cares about our charity too."

Clients meeting the designer at the upcoming events will have the chance to learn more about the charity projects in Brazil.
