With 6 Stages and Over 100 Artists, Adams Morgan Day set for a Cultural Celebration

Terra Rising Records brings National Instrument Donation Drive to Free Festival

Sept. 4, 2013 - PRLog -- Adams Morgan Day celebrates 35 years of live music and art next Sunday September 8, 2013 in Washington D.C. with 6 stages and over 100 artists from across the United States.   Flavors of music throughout the creative spectrum will fill the air from 11am - 7pm in one of DC's most historic neighborhoods. DC Folk Rock Legends Ugly Purple Sweater and Asheru join a diverse lineup of artists ready to celebrate the independent culture of Adams Morgan. Also, the entire festival is FREE.

Adams Morgan Day Entertainment Director Anders Thueson is excited about the ambitious approach the event is taking this year:  “As I began the process of Artist selection and scheduling the event gathered a life and momentum of its own to explode to 6 Stages and over 70 Performances, many of whom are already involved in the Adams Morgan and surrounding communities using their voice to bring empowerment to others.  That joy and uplift is what we consider to be the lifeblood of our mission.”  “To amplify the visual message, Muralists Mas Paz and Art Under Pressure will be creating and completing BIG Art around the festival to portray their thoughts on the day. The works will be offered at silent auction throughout the day, envelope submissions may be made with the artists during the day and winners will be announced at 6pm”

Adams Morgan Day is also putting an emphasis on community awareness and that is why Thueson invited Terra Rising Records (www.terra-rising.com)  and its founder Michael Ricucci to participate in the event.  Terra Rising Records is filming a feature length documentary titled, "Universal MusiCARE: The Music Therapy Experience," with director Pierre Walters of Blue Artists as well as running a nationwide instrument donation program called "Beat Teams," to help give people more access to music therapy and music education.

Ricucci and his team will be filming portions of Adams Morgan Day for their documentary as well as collecting instruments that they will give to music therapy and music education programs on their US tour this fall.

"Anders and his team have done a fantastic job of bringing the music, arts, and business communities of DC together to pull off this incredible event.  Terra Rising Records is honored to bring our instrument donation program {Beat Teams} to a community that is truly invested in music and the arts, as well as make Adams Morgan Day a part of our documentary," said Ricucci.

Ricucci continued, "It's important that people who believe change can happen from the ground up work together to grow that change inside their communities.  Adam's Morgan Day is a perfect example of that synergy."

Adams Morgan Day is an outdoor free festival in it's 35th year of celebrating the culture and color of the Adams Morgan neighborhood with an entirely volunteer staff.
