Virtual property Online-Trading by Austrian Startup launches

WIENER NEUSTADT, Austria - Sept. 4, 2013 - PRLog -- Geopieces.com, an Austrian startup, launches the sales of virtual property on the world map. The founders are currently working on apps to support the web interface by allowing users to share stories on the world map wherever they are. The end result is a social network focusing on user location as the primary source for content organization.

The primary innovation aims at turning the whole world map, using a google maps interface, into a virtual marketplace for property. “We want to transfer real property values to the virtual world map and give the users real benefits of owning a virtual place comparable to real space. We focus on ways that enable the user to leave their fingerprints on the world map”, said Jörg Eibl, Technology Head of the startup.

The Geopieces.com webinterface will allow users to earn a return on their virtual property investments by owning a piece of the world, the Geopiece. Geopieces will allow the user to place their own commercial or informative content on their virtual property to feature their information on a local level. It is like a virtual billboard, which becomes visible to users that browse the map region on the platform or visit with the upcoming Geopieces app.

The goal is to create the largest marketplace for virtual property  based on commmercial PR needs for local eyeballs or to help users presenting their ideas in a locally based environment. The whole concept is supported by splitting the world map in square elements, each square representing a Geopiece. These Geopieces can be bought, sold and traded on the internal marketplace with other users. Future updates will include the opportunity to earn rent for impressions on the pieces and offer additional ways to grow a property portfolio.

Currently most of the best places on the world map are still up for grabs and each new user receives enough credits to buy one Geopiece for free. The price per piece is currently €1 but this is a limited time offer. There is already a trend that claimed Geopieces end up in the market for up to 50 times of the original price. So you should better grab your favourite place really quick.

The upcoming Smartphone Apps will allow users to leave their own content updates on the world map at their current position by marking their favourite places with pictures, videos, links and text.

In order to accomplish this goal the company is looking for supporters on the crowdfunding platttform Indiegogo - Aiming to develop Apps for both iOs and Android systems.

Those will enable the user to create and share content on the go via smartphone. The concept builds on current location based service ideas but adds the freedom to place your content wherever you are without structural limitations.
