OXNARD, Calif. - Sept. 3, 2013 - PRLog -- Oxnard, Calif.—The Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Oxnard and Port Hueneme offers monthly tours of its 5th Street Clubhouse.  Tour the Martin V. Smith Clubhouse Oct. 9, beginning at noon. Lunch is served prior to the tour.

“On the tours we discuss our programs, see the areas where our members work, play and learn, and provide information on how important the Club is to our members and the surrounding community,” said Kelly Ventimiglia, BGCOP Director of Major Gifts and Annual Giving.

The tour offers people a chance to see the Club’s multipurpose room with its inspirational pictures of children riding bikes and playing cards, painted by long-time volunteer Linda Dullam; the music room and recording booth, where the Voices of Hope Choir and Orchestra program provides free music lessons year-round; the after-school tutoring rooms, where members receive help with homework on a daily basis; the gymnasium area, where students play basketball and other sports; the cafeteria; and other areas of the Club.

“The tours give people a chance to see what programs we offer and what we do at the Club for all our members,” said Tim Blaylock, BGCOP chief professional officer. “The tours are open to all community members and anyone interested in learning more about the Club.”

For guided tours for youth membership, please contact the club membership desk at 805 815-4999.
